History of Zenith DCHS
Old Historic Central High School is becoming Zenith DCHS apartments
Construction has begun to transform this 128-year-old building into 122 mixed-income modern apartments.
The exterior of the building will largely remain the same with some minor improvements being made. However, the interior will see a significant amount of work—preserving and recreating design elements of the original school made for apartment living.
From Classrooms to New Homes
Reimagining a cherished Duluth Landmark
Constructed in 1892, Duluth Central High School was home to students until 1971 when the new Central High School was built. Since then the building has been used by the school district, Education Equity, Indian Education, Unity High School and the St. Louis County Soil & Water District.
In October 2020, the Duluth School Board approved a purchase agreement with Saturday Properties. The information provided on this site is for public awareness of the project’s initial planning phase. If there are any questions, read our FAQ below or feel free to contact us at info@zenithdchs.com.
